On Sunday 17th November it was World Prematurity Day. It is a global movement to raise awareness of premature birth and the sometimes devastating impact it can have on families.

On this day Bliss comes together with partners from around the world to talk about premature birth in our countries and to raise awareness about the hurdles babies and parents face, and overcome, every single day.

World Prematurity Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of premature birth and work with partners around the world to prevent it.

Sadly, prematurity is the leading cause of death in children under five.

60,000 babies are born prematurely each year in the UK

15,000,000 babies worldwide are born prematurely every year

1,000,000 of these babies will not survive

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the doctors and nurses of St Helier Hospital Neonatal Unit of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust who cared for our daughter Elena Theodoris when she was born 10 weeks early weighing 2lbs. She is now 18 and doing very well.

As a thank you we bought a £17,000+ Incubator. From Theo The Magician Magic Sunflower Competitions, my Extreme Business Networking Events ranging from Bowling, Pool Nights and the very popular Fun Charity Poker Nights we have manage to purchase Baby Simulators for the training of Neonatal Doctor and Nurses, Breathing Monitors and various pieces of much needed specialized equipment.

Two events coming up in 2020
